Pattern matching can be addictive and fun. Neo Hexagon was started as a Demo I started back in 1999, in June 2003 the project was re-started and the completion date was set for SIGGRAPH 2003 at the end of July. Piece shadow feature added September 7th.
The object of the game is to clear sectors of 7 hexagon shaped blocks. You are given a random 3 block piece and you must decide where you want to place this piece using the following controlls:
The 3 block types are: straight, angle, and cluster.
When a group of seven blocks are together, they are cleared. This grouping is called a sector.
Sectors farther away from the center of the board are worth more points. Combinations of sectors can be cleared at the same time when sectors overlap. The normal number of normal points for clearing a sector is multiplied by the number of overlapping sectors. Therefore it is a wise strategy to try to clear multiple sectors at the same time, instead of just one sector at a time.
